About the Artist

John Houck has been making furniture for more than 30 years. Gradually he has added lamps, mirrors and clocks to his design inventory.

Although he occasionally makes pieces designed by architects, interior designers and clients, most of his work incorporates his original designs. He will not copy other furniture designers' work and does not do historical reproductions.

All Houck's work is marketeted directly to individuals rather than through galleries and art and design middlemen.

Houck's approach to design is adventuresome: many pieces incorporate a number of different materials and techniques such as stained glass, bronze castings, anodized aluminum and ceramics, as well as painted, carved, veneered and inlaid areas.
